The Old Shepherd
Chet Parsons, UVM Livestock Specialist
The “Old Shepherd” has been raising sheep and teaching sheep production for over 20 years. He has studied sheep production in the Northeastern United States, Texas, and Colorado, and Ohio. And on an international scale, he has studied sheep production in Canada, Europe, South Africa, Australia and spent a year in New Zealand doing research on sheep farms. The Old Shepherd can explain why you get a different answer about raising sheep from everyone you ask and what production method best fits your operation.
Links to Chet’s web site and video series that includes ram selection, shearing set up, lamb carcass cutting, and a shearing demonstration are below.
